New publication

A collaboration with Marco Cecchini’s group, this is a mixed computational and experimental attempt to rationalize why specific nitro compounds change the kinetic orders of some Brønsted acid catalyzed reactions. The model successfully predicts that sulphate esters should behave similarly. It has been published in Chemistry – A European Journal as part of the EuChemS special issue. Congrats to Marian and Ed for what ended up being the last of their many papers in the group! Also thanks to the Cecchini group for their endurance.

New publication

Marian, Ed and Guang’s article on catalytic substitution of alkyl fluorides has been published in Journal of Fluorine Chemistry. Special congrats to Guang, who did a large part of this work during his M1 stage.toc

New Publication

Our first paper from our collaboration with the Ebbesen group describing how strong coupling to the vacuum field can be exploited to change the rate of chemical reactions has been accepted for publication in Angewandte Chemie. Congrats to all who participated from the Ebbesen group and to Marian and Sreejith from our group!

Dr. Marian Dryzhakov

Congrats to Marian Dryzhakov on successfully defending his thesis! He is the second PhD student to graduate from the group. After a few weeks more in the lab to submit papers, Marian will join Prof. Makoto Fujita’s lab at the University of Tokyo as a JSPS postdoctoral fellow.

Marian’s thesis defense with juror Prof. Clément Mazet, March 2016

New publication

Our study on azidation of tertiary aliphatic alcohols co-catalyzed by nitro compounds and Bronsted acids has been published in the Journal of the American Chemical Society. Congrats, Marian, Malik, Eléna and Florian!
