Noemi and Bora’s paper on using the electric fields generated during electrospray to catalyze a nonenzymatic analogue of pyridoxal vitamer biosynthesis has been published in the Journal of the American Chemical Society. The latest example of our lab’s hypothesis that metabolism could have originated in an environment bearing a strong electric field. Congrats!

A warm welcome to Noemi Nogal Rodriguez, who joins us from the group of Prof. Andrés de la Escosura at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, where she worked on supramolecular chemistry and prebiotic chemistry. In our Ottawa lab, Noemi will work on the biosynthesis of coenzymes. Welcome, Noemi!
